Minister for Scheduled Castes Development Department Koppula Eeshwar distributed free laptops and extended financial assistance to poor students of social welfare residential educational institutions who secured admission in IITs, NITs, medical and dental colleges in the year 2020. Free laptops and cash incentives were announced for 196 students and Rs for 50,000 for IIT and medical students, while Rs 40,000 for NIT and BDS students.

Minister congratulated the meritorious students for their remarkable achievement in national level competitive exams and making it to the premier IITs, NITs and medical colleges across the country. It’s a matter of pride and honor that a large number of social welfare residential students have been joining IITs, NITs, medical colleges and prestigious higher educational institutions every year. Telangana state is a role model state for the entire country in providing quality education to more than 5 lakh poor students in welfare residential educational institutions. The government of Telangana launched a whopping 683 welfare residential educational institutions after the formation of state and established 45 residential degree colleges for women, besides Finearts, and Sainik schools, a major transformative step in terms of educational empowerment of SC and ST women and breaking the vicious cycle of poverty and early girl marriages.
